Montana ResourcesMontana Resources LLP operates an open-pit copper and molybdenum mine in Butte, Montana, at the Continental Pit. The company has produced over 1.2 billion pounds of copper and more than 144 million pounds of molybdenum since operations began in 1986. MR employs 350 people, and its mineral concentrates supply smelter operations both domestically and overseas. Montana Resources follows a conscientious environmental protection program and meets or exceeds all state and federal environmental regulations. The mine process, including the concentrator facility, is on a closed water circuit where the water used in the process is recycled for re-use, with zero discharge to the environment. Particulate emissions are held to a minimum through dust collection systems and water spray. A weed control program complements concurrent reclamation activity which includes re-contouring the mined area and reseeding with native grasses. |
